In a last minute decision a few weeks ago we packed the car and headed for the zoo. We arrived in the parking lot to discover that the zoo was only open for 30 minutes more! We packed Ian into the stroller and off we went! (yeah zoo membership)It was the best zoo trip we've ever had. There were only a few zoo staff wandering around taking care of closing things and almost every animal was moving around its cage perhaps anticipating dinner. We heard the lion roar from the entrace so had to see what was going on. He was sitting going through various degrees of growling.
Ian loves the lion but was a little unsure about the noises coming from him. 
We plan on visiting again with only minutes before the gates close! 
Ian was happy the entire time, animals were great and we had our pick of parking spots!
