Running around, playing, soldier and goofing upstairs with Ian tonight ended in a pile on the bed. I said to Ian, "we're a good family aren't we." He replied "yes" and got that funny little look when he's got an idea brewing. "We need a family picture," he announced.
Well, when the three year old requests a family photo everybody moves fast! I ran downstairs. Grabbed my camera, tripod, and flash. Back upstairs where Shea was entertaining Ian so we didn't lose our opportunity. By the time I got the tripod set up and the camera attached Ian said he was done. Just a quick little suggestion that he play soldier and stand on top of us was all it took. So here we have it. The first official family portrait in at least a year! And the first one that wasn't taken by me holding the camera out and cutting off some part of my head! I think it says a little about the order of things around here! And yes, I could have removed the roof line, but then I thought maybe someday we'd want to know just where our bed was and just what a fun attic room we had. I did crop out the nightstand stacked with goldfish, water glasses, books and other stuff!
Oh and just in case you want to see the mess, here's another take. I thought Matt K's 300 Preset was a good choice!
I have to thank my dear friend Myra for the photo session idea! She has taken some great photos with her son using her remote. We used the self timer which wasn't quite as effective, but worked in a pinch! Guess what is on my list of gift ideas for Mother's Day?!

That is just a classic picture!!!! so glad you got him back in the mood to take it - so worth it!
What an absolutely fabulous photograph. This is way way better than the three of you sitting primly with smiles to the camera. This is complete family and perfect.
Katrina, I agree with Carol. This is the perfect family picture! I love it!
