Puppy Photography

...is not my strong suit, but I'm working on it! He is a mover!

Who can resist that face though?

Any puppy shooting experts out there? I can shoot babies, toddlers, even 4 year old boys, but the puppy has got me stumped!

Well, you can do what I do at soccer: Amp up the shutter speed and shoot away! You're bound to get something good! hahaha Seriously, I think you'll figure it out... :) And, boy... he sure is a cutie pie!

Two words: shutter priority! That is one puppy on the move! Great capture!

Isn't it exciting to have a new challenge?! :)

Katrina, gorgeous photo, but I agree, even older dogs, not just puppies move at lightening speed when the camera comes out.

I usually have a small squeaker in my hand or pocket. When I'm wanting their attention, and it's good because their ears perk up, I'll do a quick squeak. They can't help but stop what they're doing and look up at me in anticipation of where that sound came from. Sometimes you get the ruh roh scooby doo look with the head on the side. works nearly every time.

Forgot to mention, there's a pet photography site that I love to visit, you might enjoy it too. She takes incredible dog and cat photographs, I can't help but get a smile.

OMgosh! That face. Love this.

That face is adorable. All the dogs I know run when they see a camera. LOL

That is one cute puppy! I am a bit partial to Yorkie's anyway! I keep coming back here hoping you have more photos of him. :)

Oh, one more thing! We clicker trained our Yorkie very early - starting at about 9 weeks. He is really smart and will do anything for treats. Because he was so small, I did not want to fill him up on the prepackage treats, so I boiled chicken for him. A teeny tiny pinch went a long way with him.

Now, whenever he sees me with the camera in hand, he sits and poses for me. (Well, except for when there is a ball involved.)
